NAVAL OCEANOGRAPHIC OFFICE -GEOPHYSICAL APPLICATIONS: -03 April 2003 to 01 Sept. 1985.  Geophysicist/Oceanographer- GS-1313-12.4.  Geo-spatial development of new concepts in geophysics providing ocean reference for 3‑d circulation and flow models extension to littoral zones.  Managed gravity land based reference stations, and moored current meter databases developing tectonic links to climate.

 

SPECIALIST GEOPHYSICIST/PHYSICAL SCIENTIST:  9/85-10/96 GS-5-11. Team member for the Department of Defense in the planning, execution, and completion of various geophysical processing projects collecting multiple survey platform data sets.  Maintain and calibrate equipment in data collection on multi-mission military-surveys.

 

FIELD ASSIGNMENTS:  Senior Scientist (SNR-GS-13) onboard reconnaissance gravity surveys in South Atlantic, 2002.  Senior Gravity Representative for survey land tie in Cape Town, South Africa.  Marine Geology instructor (4 years) on Navy educational outreach programs (OCEANS ALIVE and SEA SCHOLARS).  Project Leader for Klein 5000/Data Sonics side-scan, acoustic back-scatter surveys.  This provides ground-truth for acoustics in conjunctions with SIMRAD multibeam-swath bathymetry surveys for homeland defense.  Shipboard Data Manager GS-12: ISS-60 System managing bathymetry/gravity and physical oceanography survey operations, responsible for data collection and quality.  Monitor all systems and data streams, supervise watch standers and train new personnel.  Back up data-sets daily and generate reports and final data package for transmission to office.  Senior Gravity Representativer 11-12/99 Korea–Singapore-Okinawa onboard Sumner; 05-08/98 North Pacific onboard R/V Revelle, new land stations in Hawaii; Seabeam/3.5KHz surveys 01-03/94 Adriatic onboard Kane, reestablished land stations in Sicily, Rota and Copenhagen.  1991 – Land Tie Bermuda onboard Wyman.  (6 years “at sea” on various military surveys).
